How I use images

On this site, in addition to some stock and self-created images, you may notice some unique images that link out to DALL·E (openai.com).

Dall-E is a powerful tool for creating website images quickly and easily. It uses artificial intelligence to generate images based on natural language prompts or text inputs. This makes it easy to generate a large number of unique images quickly. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about finding the exact specifications of a picture, as Dall-E automatically adjusts the images to fit your desired style.

My focus is on providing information

The purpose of this site is to provide information.  Images, headings, and other visuals are a great way to break up an article and make it easier to read.  The images themselves, however, aren’t too important; they just need to be on-topic in some fashion and interesting to look at to give your brain a break from reading.  This is where an automated tool like DALL-E is a great resource.

If I knew how to create amazing visuals myself then I would, but seeing as this isn’t in my skillset, I can leverage this tool to create an on-topic image quickly.  With the added benefit of some very interesting images given the unique process used by DALL-E to create images.

Embrace imperfection

“An oil painting of a personified albatross seriously thinking through a tough decision”

These images won’t all be perfect.  Due to the AI generation, there may be parts of the image that look a bit off, or parts of the prompts may be missing from images completely. As this AI tool develops, it will likely get better and better, but these are the early days for the technology.  That being said, I find the most interesting images are often those where something is generated unexpectedly.  I encourage you to embrace the unexpected and enjoy what is new and unique, rather than hope for perfection.

I use this tool to supplement website images because I love the ease-of-use and unique styles generated by this tool. On these images, I will include the prompt used to generate the image. If you’re interested in new perspectives, I recommend you take a look!
